CIA overthrows Guatemala's democratically elected Jacob Arbenz in a military coup codenamed Operation PBSUCCESS.
Arbenz has threatened to nationalize Rockefeller-owned United Fruit Company, in which CIA Director A. Dulles (and HW Bush?) own stock. Arbenz
